Paul AngelPaul and 1,037 others joined Superstar SEO within the last two weeks. Give them a warm welcome into your community! Tony Turner WP engine exists because as great as WordPress is, bad plug-ins and unadapted sites can leave you vulnerable. There is some good info on this thread, you for sure don’t need a CDN and a dedicated server.

DM any questions and I will try to steer you the best I can. I run about 100 WordPress sites for as many clients.

You shouldn’t pay more than 25 per month for what you have.

Jay Deleon Wp engine is a platform that allows you to have a server with them protecting and configuring it. If you know nothing about hosting and servers it's one of the best companies out there. The high charge is probably the space or a long term commitment

Tony Turner Jay Deleon I use limited space. My services are limited to a Florida and only a small section at that. Not many visitors and their usually "one off". Meaning they use me once and are done.

Tony Turner Jay Deleon I know less than nothing. I wish all I knew was nothing. I just know I needed a website that would rank on the first page in a specific geograhic area (about 100 mile radius) for a business that has maybe a 15 or so competitors.

If you'd like to message me the domain name I could give you a free audit and some advice on how to move your website to be more cost effective

Edward Jiang It’s probably because you’re on a dedicated server. If your site doesn’t need a lot of resources, you should contact them and have them move you to a VPS or a shared server.

Give them a warm welcome into your community! That means you are getting a dedicated install with google cloud or aws. I have an enterprise plan with them and it’s worth it in my opinion. Shared hosting is a terrible idea for a business, and other cheaper options will give you just enough flexibility to do some damage. Their support is unparalleled, and the seamless transition of your site using environments lets you focus on content rather than code.

High performance

High availability/redundancy
Managed onboarding
Fastest support response
35+ StudioPress Themes
Genesis Framework

My idea is check your own site traffic and other details. Same dollars can go for a big brand dedicated server.

Jason NettlesJason and 1,037 others joined Superstar SEO within the last two weeks. Give them a warm welcome into your community! Tony Turner, I imagine that since you are an attorney, you don’t want to worry about php, corrupted .htaccess files, etc (apollogies if you do). Also, if you work with a developer who’s going to manage it for you, ask for them to jump on a call with WPEngine to get pricing on Google Cloud. It should be less than half of the AWS cluster they probably quoted you for. Hold out until the end of the month, let them know you are getting pricing from rackspace and provide a comparative quote. At the end of the day, having the site up and running is the goal, and you need to balance the value of your time being spent on the website versus billing clients.

Jon Insley True. Who knows anything could've happened. That or something wrong with the site. Only way to know is to look at the server stats, traffic, and site itself.

Many other managed WP hosts that are better too. That's a ridiculous cost if it does in fact have low traffic.

Tony Turner I was definitely taken advantage of. I enjoy learning about SEO, backlinks, content and the like, but am a novice and naive for sure. It’s akin to taking your car into a mechanic and they say you need to refubulate the triangular or whatever. I go ok. Let’s try that and it was nothing more than I needed an oil change. Anyhow, if you have any suggestion send me a pm. The website is tonyturnerlaw.com.I have some that has help me tremendously with the structure. But my ranking recently dropped considerably and I don’t know why. As far as I can tell it’s a zero sum game, so if I dropped someone moved up. But why? My content is good... I think.

Jason NettlesJason and 1,037 others joined Superstar SEO within the last two weeks. Give them a warm welcome into your community! Tony Turner I would definitely talk to their support staff on the charges. This kind of thing would require a contract with your signature (play the lawyer card). As far as performance, you may want to look at your SSL implementation and the timing of your performance dip. Your link briefly loads as http and redirects to https. That can certainly cause a dip in rankings. Also, you are in a viciously competitive industry, you should audit your back links with ahrefs or search console to rule out negative SEO. I’ve worked with several attorneys in SC, and it’s common to see a bunch of black hat SEO tactics coming from other local attorneys.

Jon Insley If it's only an upsell by WPEngine and nothing site related then that is good (not good about the upsell). I can't imagine someone placing you on a hosting plan like that on purpose.

If you're looking for a new managed WP host after this mess look int
